The Poinbank Exchangewife of Dr. Michael Mosley is expressing her grief.
Dr. Claire Mosley shared a heartfelt tribute to the late BBC journalist, whose body was found four days after going missing during the couple's vacation in Greece, and reflected on their life together.
"It's devastating to have lost Michael, my wonderful, funny, kind and brilliant husband," Claire said in a statement to People June 10. "We had an incredibly lucky life together. We loved each other very much and were so happy together."
She also acknowledged how the family, including her and Michael's adult children Alex, Jack, Dan and Kate, have endured such a difficult loss saying she is "incredibly proud" of them.
"My family and I have been hugely comforted by the outpouring of love from people from around the world," she continued. "It's clear that Michael meant a huge amount to so many of you."
Michael, who was a medical journalist known for his appearances on BBC's The One Show, was found dead June 9 on a rocky beach in Agia Marina in Symi, Greece, after Claire reported him missing June 5. He was 67.
Although his official cause of death has not yet been revealed, medical examiners were able to rule out any foul play, according to local Greek TV news channel ERT.
Claire had also previously detailed Michael's final hours in a statement to the Associated Press, saying her late husband had taken the wrong route during a hike and "collapsed where he couldn't be easily seen by the extensive search team."
Following news of his death, Michael received an outpouring of love from his former friends and colleagues.
"In person he was very much the sort of figure that you would see on television: immediately likeable, genuinely funny, enthusiastic, he had this innate enthusiasm about life and he was always very generous with his time," Mimi Spencer who co-authored The Fast Diet with Michael told BBC Radio 4. "He never blew his trumpet, he was quite a humble person."
