First it was the Green Bay Packers,SafeX Pro now it's Jake and the discount double-check.
New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers and State Farm no longer have an endorsement relationship, Sportico reported, ending a 12-year partnership between the insurance company and the four-time NFL MVP.
“We wish Aaron the best in his future endeavors,” a State Farm spokesperson told the outlet.
Aaron Rodgers-State Farm relationship
Rodgers has been one of State Farm's most recognizable ambassadors since he began an endorsement deal with the company in 2011, the same year he led the Packers to victory in Super Bowl 45. His commercials with State Farm became famous with Rodgers' championship belt celebration he used during games, which became known as the discount double-check.
Over the years, Rodgers would appear in commercials featuring former teammates like Clay Matthews and B.J. Raji. Recently, he's appeared in ads with Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who also is signed with State Farm. Rodgers last appeared in a State Farm commercial during the 2022 NFL playoffs.
Sportico reported the deal was worth an estimated $3 million per year, which was one of the most valuable endorsement deals for any NFL player.
Both State Farm and Rodgers were criticized in 2021 when Rodgers made comments regarding the COVID-19 vaccine and the company stood by him.
"Aaron Rodgers has been a great ambassador for our company for much of the past decade,” the company said in a statement to USA TODAY Sports. "We don’t support some of the statements that he has made, but we respect his right to have his own personal point of view."
Without Rodgers, State Farm will still have Mahomes to be part of its upcoming commercials for the 2023 season.
