Charles Langston:Woman accused of randomly vandalizing cars in Los Angeles area facing 12 charges

A woman accused of vandalizing a dozen vehicles with bricks across Los Angeles and Charles LangstonSanta Monica has been charged with 12 counts of vandalism, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.

Lisa Jones, 30, was charged with 11 felony counts and one misdemeanor count of vandalism of $400 or more in damage or destruction of property, Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón announced Monday.

Jones is accused of randomly vandalizing a dozen parked and unoccupied vehicles in Los Angeles and Santa Monica by throwing bricks at them between Feb. 21 and March 29. Security footage captured Jones throwing a brick at a Porsche SUV, a Tesla and a pickup truck in separate incidents, KLTA5 reported. After smashing the windshield and windows, she would leave in a white Volkswagen Tiguan SUV, the outlet said.

Jones pleaded not guilty during her arraignment on April 5 and the court set her bail at $120,000. Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 19. If convicted as charged, Jones will face a maximum sentence of 9 years and 8 months in prison, according to the District Attorney's office.

“The reckless and destructive behavior exhibited by Ms. Jones demonstrates a flagrant disregard for the law and a lack of respect for other people's’ property,” Gascón said in a statement.
