New Hampshire man wins $1 million from $1.4 billion Powerball draw

During the Powerball's multi-state game on Saturday, Oct. 7, a lucky resident from New Hampshire bought a ticket in Massachusetts and won a whopping $1 million prize. The highly anticipated $1.4 billion jackpot was featured in the same drawing, making it an eventful and exciting night for all participants.
Jonathan Bulmer from Chester won the prize when the first five numbers on his Quick Pick ticket matched the winning numbers selected in the drawing.
He bought his winning ticket at A.L. Prime Energy on Bridge St. in Dracut, earning the store a $10,000 bonus.
Bulmer claimed his prize on Oct. 11 at the Massachusetts State Lottery's Dorchester headquarters. He told the Lottery that he only plays Powerball when the jackpot is high.
Interestingly enough, Bulmer is the second New Hampshire resident in five weeks who won a $1 million prize in Massachusetts. The other winner was from Hudson and won the prize by playing the "10,000,000 Gold" instant ticket game.
Big winners of instant tickets are popular in Massachusetts. On Oct. 6, Michael Dodge from Peabody won $2 million in the Lottery's $10 instant ticket game, "$2,000,000 50X Cashword."
Dodge opted to receive a lump sum of $1.3 million and intends to use part of it to pay off his truck. His winning ticket was purchased at a 7-Eleven in North Billerica at 314 Boston Rd., which earned the store a $20,000 bonus.

Tickets can be purchased in-person at gas stations, convenience stores and grocery stores. Some airport terminals may also sell lottery tickets.
